Impact Snapshot

Build, verify, edit, and export an evidence-backed record of your recent engineering impact.

Updated 2026-07-27

Impact Snapshot turns representative evidence from one project and a six-month period into a concise impact record you can inspect and trust.

First-time setup

Impact Snapshot shows three milestones based on real activity:

  1. Connect your work with workrail setup.
  2. Bring in synced or manual evidence.
  3. Build and open the snapshot.

The milestones update automatically and cannot be checked off manually. If synced evidence is still processing, leave the page open; Workrail refreshes the status automatically.

Before generation

Workrail prefills your active Default Project, the latest six months, and a representative evidence selection. Review the list and include or exclude entries before selecting Build snapshot.

  • Two or more available evidence entries can produce a completed snapshot.
  • One evidence entry produces a clearly labeled partial snapshot.
  • Zero evidence entries do not invoke AI or invent a result.

If an entry is later deleted, the snapshot remains readable and identifies any citation whose source is no longer available.

What the snapshot contains

  • A short headline and grounded summary
  • Up to three evidence-backed impact narratives
  • One editable, review-ready answer
  • Citations that open the selected evidence

Generated text and citations remain editable. Manual snapshot edits do not use an AI allowance.

Free access

Free includes one snapshot setup from up to three selected repositories and up to six months of eligible history, plus one narrative replacement and one review-answer regeneration. Once the included snapshot is available, the rest of the product is read-only: existing data can still be read, copied, exported, and deleted.

Pro access

Pro enables ongoing entries, projects, reviews, sync, and snapshot workflows. Newly linked repositories start forward-only. A recent backfill is available only when explicitly requested and remains bounded to 30 days.

After a Free snapshot is opened, the snapshot page offers monthly and annual Pro checkout directly. Users with an existing Pro subscription that needs attention are sent to subscription management instead.

Activation

Workrail counts a snapshot as activated only when you first open a completed or partial snapshot. Generating it or upgrading to Pro does not count as activation.
